The Building Process
The Building Process

Wondering how the building process goes and how long it takes? The short answer is, ‘It just depends.’ From empty lot to moving day can vary depending on the seasons (longer work days in the summer, shorter in the winter), the size of your plan, weather conditions, and similar factors. Generally speaking a home is ready within 90 to 120 days. At Fleishman Construction Service Inc. we keep the ball rolling because we know you’re excited to move into your new home. This article focuses on some of the highlights of building your new home. Between each building milestone there are many details, but not to worry. We’ll make sure you know what to expect and when to expect it. We want you to be informed and educated about all of the aspects of your new home.

Your Lot

The lot is marked, forming the outline of your home. After that, the earth work begins. If your plan calls for a basement, a hole is dug. At this point in the process, any piping that needs to go into the home will be laid and the foundation will be poured. Exterior tiling for water drainage away from your foundation is installed. This is a prime time to choose appliances, kitchen and bath cabinetry, and countertops.

Framing

Once the foundation has cured, the framing begins. This part of the build process typically goes very quickly. You can begin to see what your home will look like. The exterior walls and roof are added to the structure, as well as windows and doors. The exterior siding you’ve selected will be installed as well. If you have opted to go with high efficiency geothermal heating and cooling, the wells are drilled.

Working Inside

Up until this point, not a whole lot has been done to the interior. You’ll notice that electric, insulation, plumbing and drywall will be placed. Once the drywall is up, you can clearly get a sense of what it’s like to walk into your new house. The interior painters begin their work. Trim details such as fireplace mantles and shelving will be built.

The Finer Points

Cabinetry, doors, trim, and countertops are placed. Lighting and switches will be installed as well. After that comes flooring and any tile work. On the outside of the home, painters add color, stone masons finish their final details, garage door openers, sprinkler systems, and other exterior amenities are added.

Moving Day

This date come before you knew it. After a few months of constant activity, it’s time for you to put your feet up and relax. Welcome Home!
